Keeping Baby Busy {vol 2.}

Sticks
or
that's what we like to call it around here.
Call it what you want
but it's the perfect game for baby
during that time in the afternoon,
when they are up from the last nap of the day,
and the hour of daddy walking in the door
seems
so
far
away
...
3 o'clock
All you stay at home moms are
out there shaking your head in agreement.
It's like the twilight zone
nothing seems to go right,
baby is crabby,
mommy is tired,
afternoon TV is horrible...
I know just what to do
to get you and baby out of that afternoon slump
Music time!!!
Turn off the TV
give baby a variety of
"instruments"

Pots
Tins
Spoons
Clapping your hands to the beat

All are great ways to show baby
how to have a good time with music and rhythm.
Plus if you DVR Ellen
you can finish it off with a little dance sesh
and that friends
is how me and Charlie beat the afternoon grumpies.

How do you get through 3-5 every afternoon?!?

Fall is my favorite time of year...

Fall.
I flippin' love it.
The beautiful trees,
the delicious smell
of spicy autumn candles
and cozy soup dinners.
Love it.

And I don't know about where you live
but round these parts,
we take decorating for fall pretty seriously.
There are mums on front porches,
and pumpkins sprinkled down
front steps.

There are ghosty and creepy things
all around the house
and candy corn in abundance.
And if you can stomach the sweetness
there is always the classic pumpkin candy too.

How are you
decorating for fall???

Feel free to post links in the comments to your own blog or facebook page to show how you get your house all festive!

Keeping Baby Busy {A New Series}...

Charlie is a busy baby.
I knew she would be.
So I have been researching
games,
activities,
songs,
you know,
learn-ny things.
And one of the big themes I have come across
is introducing your baby to all kinds of texture.

One of our favorite ways to practice this
is to fill a big bowl full of something
"unusual"
for Charlie to explore.

You can use:

Dried Beans
Dried Peas
Dried Egg Noodles
Uncooked Rice
Sugar

I stick her pacifier in,
sit right with her to make sure that it stays out of her mouth,
other then that I just let her have at it.
Yes.
It is messy
but it keeps their attention for so long
and teaches them to investigate the world around them.

You can also give them
bowls,
cups,
spoons,
anything to dig and scoop.

Save this one for a rainy afternoon.
