Keeping Baby Busy {A New Series}...

Charlie is a busy baby.
I knew she would be.
So I have been researching
games,
activities,
songs,
you know,
learn-ny things.
And one of the big themes I have come across
is introducing your baby to all kinds of texture.

One of our favorite ways to practice this
is to fill a big bowl full of something
"unusual"
for Charlie to explore.

You can use:

Dried Beans
Dried Peas
Dried Egg Noodles
Uncooked Rice
Sugar

I stick her pacifier in,
sit right with her to make sure that it stays out of her mouth,
other then that I just let her have at it.
Yes.
It is messy
but it keeps their attention for so long
and teaches them to investigate the world around them.

You can also give them
bowls,
cups,
spoons,
anything to dig and scoop.

Save this one for a rainy afternoon.

  1. haha I vaguely remember doing this when I was little...but of course I remember because I put the little beans in my nose and ran crying to my mom. haha
perfect idea to teach children about texture though!

  2. You can also put your bean pot on a vinyl tablecloth (or a super cute quilt like you've done). Makes clean up much easier!

I am a stay at home mommy so all adult conversation means I get to keep my sanity just a little bit longer...
